Within large manufacturing companies it is necessary to maintain a continuous and regular production cycle. It is therefore important to prevent downtime and management lapses, which could lead to complex short- or long-term business losses.

To ensure that this does not occur, it is essential to have a qualified and competent workforce equipped with reliable, robust and powerful vehicles that can help to maintain high operational standards at all times.

Hydro Extrusions Lucé, a leading European manufacturer of aluminium products, has found an answer to its production needs with DIECI telehandlers, by selecting two vehicles from the Samson range.

Hydro Extrusions, a leading European aluminium manufacturer

In 1907 Samuel Eyde founded Norsk Hydro, as the company was originally known, which specialised in the production of artificial fertilisers. Over the years the company has expanded into such varied sectors as the production of deuterium, needed for atomic research, and metal recycling, as well as the production of traditional and renewable energies and new-generation batteries.

Today Hydro has more than 140 factories located in 40 countries.

Its subsidiary in France is Hydro Extrusions based in Lucé, which annually produces around 21,000 tonnes of products including aluminium sheets, profiles, rods, extrusions and ingots, all from recycled material that is supplied to the company every day.

In addition to its 150 employees, the factory’s operations are supported by two DIECI Samson 75.10 fixed telehandlers, which are ideal for repeated handling of large quantities of material.

DIECI telehandlers support manufacturing and logistical activities

Every day on the Hydro Extrusions site, the DIECI telehandlers position, divide and move large quantities of aluminium to be melted down, such as old beverage cans, doors, guttering, windows, prefabricated components and pipes. The blast furnaces run non-stop 7 days a week, day and night, and the production cycle is never interrupted. For this reason, being able to count on high-performance solutions is key to the company's success.

Thanks also to their many compatible accessories such as forks, buckets, rotating heads and pipe clamps, the telehandlers are truly multi-functional vehicles that are highly specialised and can effectively serve different uses.

Why Samson?

Among the various lines of fixed telehandlers, the Samson range stands out for its robustness and power, features that make it suitable for intense jobs that require a high lifting capacity.

All the Samson models are designed for loading and unloading heavy material, thanks to the tilting kinematic mechanism equipped with counter-lever. This makes it possible to increase the rotation angle of the fork holding plate, which is particularly effective when combined with the bucket.

The Samson 75.10 is the top-of-the-range model. A versatile, robust, reliable, easy and intuitive telehandler, its standout characteristics are:

  • 7500 kg maximum capacity
  • 6 m maximum lifting height
  • 114 kW maximum power

Additional benefits of this telehandler include:

  • Giugiaro Design cab, where soft contours and elegant aesthetics are combined with numerous operator-friendly features such as the heated seat, extra legroom, adjustable armrest and soundproofed roof, dashboard and mat. High levels of safety and visibility are ensured by great attention to details such as the large glass surfaces, LED lights in the cab and on the vehicle’s perimeter, adjustable and heated wing mirrors and three wireless cameras.
  • The DTS (Dieci Telematic System) enables the operator to monitor all the indicator lights on the telehandler, including remotely. Thanks to DTS it is possible to maintain constant control of all parameters, thereby simplifying routine maintenance and keeping the vehicles running efficiently.
  • High Tech Boom, 3 advanced features that streamline work operations. Shake causes the bucket to shake, for simplified unloading; Wall keeps the equipment vertical when ascending/descending; and Memory memorises the position of the equipment, making it easier to revert to its original setting.

Thanks to Samson, the production cycle is constant and efficient, with continuous handling of materials of any size, both day and night.

Aluminium, a valuable recyclable material

Aluminium is a silvery metal with a long history of applications in numerous sectors. Used for tools, ornaments, weapons and much more, in nature it is found in the form of salts, oxides or in combination with other minerals.

Its characteristics make it truly unique: when bonded to other metals, it is as strong as steel; its ability to reflect light and heat makes it perfect for food storage; and since it is an excellent conductor of electricity, it has become instrumental in the electronics industry.

Another feature that makes aluminium truly unique is that it is 100% recyclable. It is estimated that 75% of all aluminium produced since the 19th century is still in use today.

Large companies such as Hydro Extrusions recycle this material according to a tight and constant schedule, shredding and melting old waste of all shapes and sizes to create new products for reuse in different sectors, in one long, continuous cycle.
