Emilia is a land of deep-rooted agricultural traditions, where the production of milk for Parmigiano Reggiano DOP is far more than just a profession: it is a heritage passed down from generation to generation. In this context, the region’s historic farms and livestock businesses represent the beating heart of an excellence-driven supply chain recognized worldwide.
To keep pace with new production standards and evolving market demands while maintaining their market position, even the most established businesses have had to modernize their machinery, embracing versatile and flexible solutions.
To tell the story of this evolution, we travelled to Montecchio Emilia to meet Sartori Elio and Franco Farm, a family-run business founded over one hundred years ago and now led by its fourth generation.
We were welcomed by Luciano, owner together with his sister and uncle, and today at the head of the company. With 130 dairy cows and a forage supply chain that is almost entirely self-produced, with 90% of the forage coming from their own permanent meadows, the farm embodies the values of quality, continuity, and respect for the land that make Parmigiano Reggiano a symbol of Made in Italy.
The versatility of the Agri Pivot T80 telehandler
The relationship with DIECI began in 2019, when the farm felt the need to expand its machinery fleet by introducing a versatile machine capable of handling hay bales while also supporting daily barn management activities.
To meet these needs, the best solution was the purchase of an articulated agricultural telehandler, specifically designed to simplify daily operations and support different seasonal activities.
As Luciano explains: “We chose an articulated telehandler, specifically the Agri Pivot T80: an extremely flexible machine, ideal not only for harvesting, handling, and storing hay, but also for bedding cleaning operations and for managing soil and fertilizers.”
Articulated telehandler vs fixed telehandler
Seven years later, Sartori Farm is extremely satisfied with its choice not only because of the features that initially led to the purchase, but also because of a range of comfort and safety functions exclusive to articulated machines, which have completely transformed the way they work.
As Luciano points out: “One aspect that proved decisive for us is the level of operational control and visibility compared with a fixed telehandler: with this type of machine, there are no blind spots.”
In fact, with an articulated telehandler:
- visibility is significantly improved, allowing the operator to always maintain full control of both the load and the attachment, without blind spots;
- the boom is centrally positioned rather than side-mounted, improving balance and control during handling operations;
- the machine handles more like a wheel loader, making it more agile and precise in daily work.
An articulated telehandler can effectively replace a wheel loader within a farm, while adding the lifting capabilities that distinguish telehandlers.
These features have proven essential for Luciano, who identifies three main advantages of the Agri Pivot T80:
- Visibility. Thanks to the operator’s central and elevated driving position, the machine offers 360° visibility, improving load control and the use of attachments throughout every stage of operation.
- Extreme versatility. A single machine can perform multiple functions: from material handling and lifting as a telehandler, to towing bale trailers like a tractor, and even bedding cleaning operations using the front bucket.
- Maneuverability. The central articulation joint makes the machine particularly agile, allowing it to operate easily even in confined spaces such as inside barns. This also provides valuable support in livestock management, for example when moving injured animals. Likewise, during the summer season, it greatly simplifies hay bale storage operations.
The future of farming starts with DIECI
“Without a doubt, it is the machine we use the most on the farm”.
The unique features of DIECI articulated telehandlers are evident from the very first use and once you try them, there is no going back. As Luciano explains: “When the time comes, the choice will be obvious: we will choose an articulated telehandler again. For a farm like ours, it is an essential machine in terms of operations, versatility, and efficiency.”
Our Research & Development team will continue working constantly to offer increasingly high-performance solutions, and when the time comes, we will be ready to welcome Sartori Farm with a new articulated telehandler capable of surprising them once again.We would like to thank Luciano for opening the doors of his farm to us and for sharing his successful experience with DIECI telehandlers… until the next machine!
