The Pegasus 70.35 rotating telehandler is the star of the second episode of the third season of the docu-series Mezzi Speciali – Forgiati su Misura, broadcast on MotorTrend.

In this episode, Luca Traina, creator and host of the series, visits the DIECI headquarters in Montecchio Emilia to illustrate, step by step, the production phases of one of the most advanced and efficient rotating telehandlers on the market. After following the process inside the factory, the camera moves to the construction site to showcase in detail the applications and unique features of this special machine.

Rotating telehandler: discover the Mezzi Speciali episode dedicated to DIECI

How is a rotating telehandler built? What are its peculiarities? How many departments are involved, and in what way do innovation and technology merge within this machine?

These are some of the questions answered in episode 2 of the 3rd season of “Mezzi Speciali – Forgiati su Misura”, featuring the Pegasus 70.35 rotating telehandler. To answer these questions, Luca Traina, author and presenter of the program, visited the DIECI headquarters in Montecchio Emilia (RE), where he was welcomed by CEO Ciro Correggi and the company’s President, Ennio Manghi.

During the visit to the various departments, Traina guides us through the different stages that define the 100% Made in Italy design and production of the Pegasus 70.35 rotating telehandler:

  1. Carpentry: under the guidance of Federico Gradella, Head of Carpentry and Boom Plant, we discover how the steel sheets that will form the skeleton of the machine are produced;
  2. Frame and systems, Nicola Malagoli, Head of Departments and Assembly, takes us through the sub-stages of chassis assembly and the installation of the first components;
  3. Cabin setup, a separate section from the main line, again under the supervision of Nicola Malagoli, where the driver’s station is assembled, including windows, seat, and digital supports, for 360° vision and control of the machine and boom;
  4. Boom assembly, led by Federico Gradella, we observe the 35 meters of extension of the Pegasus 70.35 boom;
  5. Turret-boom union, together with Francesco Poldi, Plant Manager, we observe the most delicate phase, the moment when the two main components of the machine are joined, giving birth to the telehandler;
  6. Final testing of the machine, a conclusive test lasting even more than a full working day, ensuring maximum efficiency and quality, in true DIECI style.

Software and artificial intelligence

Mechanical technology is not the only distinctive element of DIECI machines. During the episode of “Mezzi Speciali – Forgiati su Misura dedicated to the DIECI rotating telehandler, Luca Traina also meets Gabriele Minardi, software engineer, who reveals the behind-the-scenes of one of the most important elements of the Pegasus Elite range: the software developed entirely by DIECI. This software significantly enhances electronic performance, elevating it to automotive industry standards. The integration of technology and artificial intelligence innovative features that enhance productivity, ease of use, and safety.

Application of the Pegasus rotating telehandler on-site

To give viewers a comprehensive vision of the functionalities and potential applications of the Pegasus 70.35 rotating telehandler, Luca Traina leaves the DIECI facilities to witness the machine’s potential directly in the field. At the construction site, some of the machine’s most important features are tested, including:

  • The anti-tilt system, for safe operation even on uneven ground, slopes, or with maximum load;
  • The remote control system with radio control, enabling operation from the ground or from the basket;
  • The advanced vision system, which detects obstacles and people within the vehicle’s working radius.
